Benefits Animal Welfare
Unite Fitness has chosen the cause of rescuing, caring for and adopting animals because of our community members’ deep connection with our own pets as part of our healthy lifestyle. They are our running buddies, our reason to walk outside, our loving friends, our families and so we naturally care for all those pets that are mistreated or discarded. Our chosen local charitable partners inspire us to give back to the pets that give so much to us, in terms of volunteering, adoption and donations to support rescues and medical care.

PSPCA
The Pennsylvania SPCA was the second humane organization in the United States, saving and improving the lives of animals. It is heartbreaking that the situations of animal cruelty and neglect exist but throughout the years PSPCA have been extremely effective at improving the lives of local animals through the following core programs:
- Humane law enforcement to respond to animal cruelty and neglect
- Animal shelter to house rescued and discarded animals
- Low-cost veterinary clinic

Although their humane law enforcement has police powers, it does not receive state or local funding to operate and they have investigated almost 10,000 cases and rescued nearly 2000 animals in 2011. The department was featured in a Nat Geo WILD documentary called Philly Undercover. The shelter animals receive medical care, performing 20,000 spay and neuter surgeries per year, which is also entirely donor funded. The PSPCA is also the hub for pet adoption in the area finding homes for about 15,000 animals with an astounding 96% save rate. Volunteers assist with walking, bathing, training and loving the animals who are in-between homes and providing pet foster homes.
